Adult Art Classes run by CW Entertainment
(Campus West, Welwyn Garden City),
classes run in short blocks of 7-9 week courses.
£12 per a session which is 2.5 hours long
(either 10am - 12.30pm or 1.45pm - 4.15pm)

at Vineyard Barns in Welwyn Garden City the classes include a variety of projects and materials, free parking onsite plus weekly handouts, suitable for all abilities.

Drawing Animals using pencil (graphite):

Inspirational artist: Gary Hodges.

Student may also use graphite powder (which they may purchase from Kim if they don’t have any). To gain experience and control over graphite to generate realistic pencil drawings – proportions/tonal/detail/texture.

Smooth paper either A4 or A3, rubber, sharpener, Small brush, tissue, HB pencil (if you have other please feel free to bring), Graphite powder (40p from Kim), and putty rubber if using graphite powder.

10th September

Landscape Colour combination Studies:

Students will choose one landscape and create in as many (10) different colour combinations as possible during the class. Building a good understanding of colour and how optical illusions of depth can be created using colour contrast.

As many A5 bits of cartridge paper that students feel they will complete. Acrylics, brushes, palette, water pot.

17th September

Bird art works:

Exploring the art works of Jamel Akib (Pastels) Esther Tyson (Acrylics)

Catherine McClung (watercolour/Gold leaf) Liz Myhill (Mixed media). Student may choose an artist to either re-create or inspire an art work.

A3 paper size. Bring suitable paper for the medium you plan to work in.

For example pastel paper and pastels or cartridge and acrylics etc.

Bring suitable materials.

1st October

Boats and the Sea side:

Exploring the art works of Ray Balkwill (water colours) Richie Collins (acrylics)
Edgar Payne (oils) Student may choose an artist to either re-create or inspire an art work.

A3 paper size. Bring suitable paper for the medium you plan to work in.

For example pastel paper and pastels or cartridge and acrylics etc.

Abstract Landscapes:

Exploring the art works of Ed Chesnovitch (Acrylics and oils) Carol Nelson (acrylics and mixed media) Thomas W. Schaller (watercolour) Student may choose an artist to either re-create or inspire an art work.

A3 paper size. Bring suitable paper for the medium you plan to work in.

For example pastel paper and pastels or cartridge and acrylics etc.

22nd October

Students own project

Bring suitable materials.

 

£12 x (2.5hrs) over 8 week course = Total £96.00 (3rd September to 22nd October 2019)

Tonal landscape – Creating Atmosphere
Using pastel to study contrast and drama within a drawing.

Foreshortening Nudes figures:

Working in any medium students will learn about foreshortening and create realistic optical illusions of depth.

A3 size paper. Bring suitable paper for the medium you plan to work in:

26th November

Foreshortening Nudes continued.

Bring suitable materials.

3rd December

Abstract Project: Students will create a blind contour sketch turned into abstract painting using colour. Developing hand and eye co-ordination and colour mixing experience.

A3 Cartridge paper and paints – acrylic or watercolours. Plus normal equipment like brushes etc.

10th December

Drapery painting project: Students will paint material to make it appear realistic and have depth.

A3 Cartridge paper and paints – acrylic or watercolours. Plus normal equipment like brushes etc

17th December

Students own project
