Adult Art Classes run by CW Entertainment
(Campus West, Welwyn Garden City),
classes run in short blocks of 7-9 week courses.
£12 per a session which is 2.5 hours long (either 10am - 12.30pm or 1.45pm - 4.15pm) throughout the year, details on dates and projects feature below.
Located 
at Vineyard Barns in Welwyn Garden City the classes include a variety of projects and materials, free parking onsite plus weekly handouts, suitable for all abilities.

February to April 2019

26TH FEB

Atmospheric landscapes in Charcoal/Acrylics/Inks

Example given of Janine Baldwins work, there are also other artists versions included on the hand out exploring the various ways atmosphere can be created.

A3 cartridge paper, white and black acrylic, brushes, palette, water pot, charcoal, putty rubber, black ink. (ink - available from Kim for small donation), sticks to scrap into paint.

5TH MAR

Life painting – juicy palette knife painting.
Inspired by artists like; Salman Khoshroo,
Kai Samuels-Davis I,  Jonas Kunickas. Students will be exploring how to apply paint and develop texture within the work to give various different results.

 

Gesso A3/A2 paper (order from Kim for donation), palette knife, acrylics, brushes, palette, water pot and various options to add to paint to increase thickness – see hand out.

12TH MAR

19TH MAR

Pastel portraits, exploring facial proportions along with accurate tonal contrasts. Students will be completing a Classical style utilizing black and white pastels pencil, giving very delicate and gentle art works.

Pastel paper or sugar paper (order from Kim for donation) – light gray or soft pastel blue A3. White and black pastel pencil with putty rubber.

26TH MAR

2ND APR

Acrylic and pastels Landscapes. Students will be using both pastels and acrylic together to maximize the delicate but also saturated colour this technique can give.

A3 cartridge paper, acrylics, brushes, palette water pot, pastels (sticks/pencils) – hair spray or fixative.

9TH APR

Sepia powder or graphite powder reduction portraits: classical style investigating how to use reduction techniques to get beautiful delicate sepia skin tones.

Gesso paper A3 or A2 (available from Kim for donation) – clumsy method so bigger is better, sepia powder (available from Kim for donation 50p for small bag plus 50p for liquid), sand papers, knife, blades for scraping off powder. Hair spray or fixative.

30TH APR

Mythological Art works: Exploring the artists listed below, students can either copy or create their own art work exploring a mythological story.

Edward Burne-Jones, John William Waterhouse, Edward Robert Hughes.

A3 Cartridge paper, acrylics, brushes, paints, palette and water pot.

7TH MAY

Life Drawing: Mixed media, painting on collage.
Inspirational Artists:

14TH MAY

Small detailed Animal painting – Students will explore and learn about fur, eyes and skin textures. Acrylics or Watercolours (students choice, bring relevant materials).

Exploring Watercolours, plan, draw and paint: Taking inspiration from the artist listed below, students will choose a photo to make a watercolor painting from, planning the necessary steps to accurately represent the scene.

Watercolour paper, 2B pencil, masking fluid, washing up liquid, water colours, brushes, palette.

Collage /ink and chalk – Portrait.

Building knowledge of facial proportions along with a playful approach to mixing collage with inks and chalk for tonal representation.

A3 cartridge paper, coloured papers, scissors, glue, brushes, ink, chalk, palette, water pot.

Kim will have ink for sale if you wish to purchase some.

25TH JUN

Water; Reflections and Translucency: Glass Jam-jar with brush.

Working in any of the following mediums: watercolours/ ink/acrylics, students will build up realistic representations of a jam-jar of water with a paint brush.

A3 Cartridge paper, acrylics/ink/watercolours, brushes, paints, palette and water pot.

2ND JUL

Water; Reflections and Translucency continued.

9TH JUL

Emotional Illustrations: Ink or watercolours.
Students will explore the work of the artist below to come up with their own design for an illustration which portrays human emotion.

16TH JUL

Brazilian artists: Students will choose one of the Brazilian artists to either copy or inspire your own art work.
